ChurchBuild./Ministry Expansion
Building/Ministry Expansion Minimize
There have been many things happening since the approval by the voters on January 23, 2011, to proceed with the plans proposed by Brown Church development (“Brown”) to create more space for ministry here at Peace. Updates will be posted weekly and announced on the lower right hand corner of CONNECTION, the weekly update sheet distributed at weekly worship.

Building/Ministry Expansion Update-5/6/12
Thanks you to everyone who helped put in landscape/playground equipment on April 27/28! If is so much more rewarding to work together as a team! Dirt work has started for prepping to plant grass and lay sod. That’s exciting! It is being done by Chad Gideon.  Please thank him when you have the opportunity, ok?

By next Sunday, we hope to have a final amount needed to finish the rest of the landscaping, install an underground sprinkler for the grass and also purchase the rest of the furnishings for the Gathering Place. I apologize for the repeated blurbs on needing funds for these projects. It was suggested that we just calculate an amount needed to finish, give that to you and let God work through you without saying a whole lot more about it. That is a great idea! That way we all know what the end need is and can keep that in sight rather than reading an “ongoing plea”. No one wants to hear that week after week!

Thanks you VERY much for your prayer support, your physical support and your financial support as we work together to finish up these last remaining projects to enhance our facility and ability to do ministry for Christ in this place!   Pastor Reiners

Building/Ministry Expansion Update-4/29/12
Re-iterating some of last week’s thoughts...we are still in need of your assistance through prayers and financial help. Prayers because I know that everyone can help there, so I am trusting that you will.

Last week at this time we were in need of physical assistance, and now want to thank those who were here on the 27/28th to help with planting and the preschool playground reinstallation.
Finally, it is still a fact that we are in need of financial donations in order to make this phase of the landscaping and furnishing needs a reality—even if it’s a $5 “over and beyond your regular offerings” gift. Here’s the situation: The landscape fund has had approx. $10,000 donated to it. That’s a generous start since these needs are both “outside the budget” expenses. To be financially prudent, we have committed to spending only what has been donated to complete these last two areas of our building project. So please look at the displays of what we have planned in both areas, and then consider a financial gift to help these plans become reality. You may use an envelope found on the displays.

Every bit of your support, in all areas of need, are greatly appreciated. Pastor Reiners

Building/Ministry Expansion Update-4/22/12
I’m going to make a shameless plea for your assistance through prayers, physical and financial help. I start out with prayers because I know that everyone can help there, so please do, ok?
Not everyone will be able to help with physical, but if you can there will be two big work days on April 27/28. We will be installing the Preschool playground and putting in all the landscape (plants, tees, rocks, mulch, etc). We could easily use 60+ people! Please consider helping one or both of those days. Bring rakes, shovels, gloves, and a sense of humor.
Most everyone can help financially, even if it’s a $5 “over and beyond you regular offerings” gift. Here’s the situation: The landscape fund has had $7000 donated to it. That’s a generous start. At the same time, the reality is that it’s not going to go very far. The landscape and furnishings for the Gathering Place are both “outside the budget” expenses. To be financially prudent, we have committed to spending only what has been donated to complete these last two areas of our building project. So please look at the displays of what we have planned in both areas, and then consider a financial gift to help these plans become reality. You may use an envelope found on the displays. Thank you VERY much for your prayer support, your physical support and your financial support! Pastor Reiners

Building/Ministry Expansion Update-4/15/12
There will be two big work days on April 27/28. We will be installing the Preschool playground and putting in all the landscape (plants, trees, rocks, mulch, etc). We could easily use 60+ people! Please consider helping one or both of those days. Bring rakes, shovels, gloves, and a sense of humor. If you wish to make an “above and beyond” donation to either the landscape fund OR to the furnishings-for-the-Gathering-Place-fund, please see a display for an envelope. These are “outside the budget” expenses, so your financial support is both needed and appreciated as we move forward in these two areas of our building project.

Also, please know that we have NOT forgotten about Hospitality Ministry! In the course of setting this up, we became very much aware of the need to either upgrade or replace our church management software. So, we need to work through this process first. How this came up in our planning is the need to be able to coordinate/schedule volunteers for Hospitality and so many other ministries (Sunday and otherwise). Those who indicated an interest to serve in this ministry, please be patient. We WILL contact you, ok, probably sometime this summer for training so we can be ready to go in the Fall. In the meantime, let ALL of us keep on doing everything we can to show hospitality to both guests and members alike. Thanks, Pastor Reiners

Our Good Friday speaker will be Dr. Doug Tewes, an orthopedic surgeon from Messiah LC in Lincoln. He will explain the crucifixion of Christ from a medical perspective, going into specific details using classical paintings which are pretty graphic. He wants folks to know this ahead of time and to explain to their children what they will be seeing. He has been giving this presentation for over 25 years and assures me that if people have a “heads up” and come to this presentation aware of the subject matter things will be ok. Here’s your heads up! Pastor Reiners
