Russian Ministry:

Pastor Mathew Heise is serving in Russia where he assists Russian churches with church planting and mission outreach programs.  From 1994 to 1996 he served as a volunteer missionary in Moscow where he taught English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) classes and was the ESL coordinator.  He has returned to the country of his grandparents origin.

Born in Dearborn Michigan he is life long member of Guardian Lutheran Church in Deaborn.  He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan, a master's from Wayne State University in Detroit, and attended Concordia Seminary in St. Louis Mo. His hobbies are sports, traveling, and reading.

Please pray for safety for Matthew and all other missionaries and for "a boldness to witness to the that I have in Jesus Christ, with gentleness and respect." (1 Peter 3:15-16).

Update January 2012--Matt begins his newsletter with reference to the Star in the East! "Just as the wise men came from the East to worship Jesus at the time of Epiphany, we are seeing people from the East coming to worship Him in ever greater numbers... The interest of Mongolians in the Gospel is becoming more and more remarkable with every visit I take... I can see Christianity growing at the rate in which it grew in South Korea over the last half century... So yes, the star is indeed rising in the East, and while Buddhism is far from dead, the interest of people from all age groups in the hope that Jesus Christ brings is encouraging.. We pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to shine His light in the hearts of our new Mongolian Lutheran believers this year."
