Mission Action Team

 

In reviewing the needs of the Missionaries and the Mission projects that have been supported by Peace Lutheran Church, the following Mission Projects that were determined by the congregation for support with monetary support during 2011 are:

·         Camp Luther

·         People of the Book Lutheran Outreach (POBLO)

·         Cristo Cordero Church

·         Sharon Owens-Missionary to Macau

·         Pastor Shauen and Krista Trump-Missionaries to Kenya Africa

·         Pastor Matt Heise- Missionary to Russia

·         Orphan Grain Train- Russian Children’s Prison Ministry/Local Distribution Center

 

Other projects chosen for special support consideration are Nebraska Sandhills Ministry, Winnebago Children’s Pre- School, Inner City Sudanese Ministry in Omaha, Peace Lutheran Spring or Fall Evangelism Outreach program.

 

As we plan for 2012, we will be using the guiding principle found in Acts, chapter1, verse 8. “You shall be my witness both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” We will be exploring potential areas of mission need in Grand Island (Jerusalem), the state of Nebraska or general mid-west proximity (Judea), the continental United States (Samaria) and, of course, other parts of the world (remotest parts of the earth).

 

We will be soliciting ideas from the Orphan Grain Train organization, Gary Theis of Mission Central in Iowa, and from you, the members of Peace congregation. This new approach to our mission emphasis will always continue to involve personal commitment and involvement, along with sending monetary resources. Personal involvement in mission projects continues to be the best way to build enthusiasm and commitment to mission outreach. Much of what Peace congregation does throughout the year is centered on our ultimate mission of “Sharing Christ’s Love with Each Other and the World”. When broken down, over 48% of Peaces’ resources are directed toward that ultimate mission goal, when we factor in the outreach effects of the Heartland Lutheran High School, Preschool, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, etc. God continues to bless us here at Peace, with the challenges and the rewards of all our mission goals.
